A Highly Desirable Neighbourhood

Goodwood Residence sits on a prime 2.5 hectare freehold land within the coveted Orchard-Scotts area. It is a mere 5 minutes’ walk away from the Newton MRT station and is a short stroll away to Orchard Road, Singapore’s popular shopping and entertainment district. Yet, this exclusive 210 units freehold development integrates seamlessly with the greenery of the Goodwood Hill, providing a perfect sanctuary for residents away from the hustle and bustle of the city life.

Surrounded with reputable local and international schools such as Raffles Girls’ Secondary School, Anglo Chinese School and Singapore Girls’ School, Goodwood is a highly desirable neighbourhood for parents with school-going children.

Perfect Setting for Discerning Homeowners

Conceptualised by highly sought after award winning consultants, WOHA Architects & ICN Design International, this exclusive and elegant development is designed such that every apartment enjoys the magnificent lush view of Goodwood Hill – a rarity in the prime Orchard-Scotts vicinity.

In line with GuocoLand’s commitment of “Creating Thoughtful Spaces for Communities”, 80% of Goodwood Residence is dedicated to lush landscaping and generous recreational facilities. One such promising facility is the clubhouse; designed with views of the lap-pool, a spacious lawn on one side and hillside greenery on the other, residents can look forward to entertain in salubrious surroundings, exercise in view-endowed comfort, or just while away a lazy afternoon on the expansive decks.

WOHA is one of Southeast Asia’s best known and most awarded architectural firms. Since its establishment in 1994, WOHA has won numerous awards in Singapore and in the region. Some of their notable works include the Singapore Park Royal on Pickering, the Alila Villas Uluwatu resort in Bali and the InterContinental Sanya Resort in China.

Luxury to the Finest Details

To further enhance security and exclusivity, all 210 units of Goodwood Residence feature private lifts that open directly to the units’ lobby. Each lift lobby is furnished with a set of relaxing lounge sofa, coffee table and personalised lockers for residents to store their golf or fishing equipment.

One other unique feature of Goodwood Residence is its dual-frontage, allowing residents to enjoy natural lightings and better ventilation. Together with its high ceiling, impeccable décor and top-notch fittings, Goodwood Residence truly offers state-of-the-art luxury for the discerning homeowners.

Green Space & Green Living

Complementing and extending the green of Goodwill Hill are 55 existing trees which are preserved, along with approximately 500 new trees that are native to Southeast Asia. This is reinforced by some 1,700sqm of vertical landscaping and the grand central lawn at the heart of the development. Almost 80% of the estate is dedicated to landscaping and communal facilities.

Smart Water Management

To mimimise the use of potable water, a self-sustaining irrigation system that harvests rainwater, irrigation water run-off and underground water to irrigate the plants during the wet and dry seasons is devised. This is made possible due to the site’s high water table and foothill location. Reed planting beds that act as filters further provide a natural bio-filtration process along the water migration route in order to improve water quality before it is stored for the next cycle of irrigation.

Conceived with sustainable design principles from the very onset, the project showcases several other (below listed) innovative environmental features and demonstrates that the introduction of such green measures, which cost only 1% more in construction cost, need not come at a high premium if adopted early in the design process. The estimated savings from these implementations are approximately $600,000 on annual utility bills for the home and the common areas, which is equivalent to 20% reduction in the monthly maintenance cost. Goodwood Residence has been awarded the prestigious GreenMark Platinum Award by the Building and Construction Authority of Singapore.

All units are one apartment thick, with the blocks configured like boundary walls that define and enclose a series of courtyards that first draws its residents through an intimately scaled tree-lined boulevard that wraps around a pair of foliage screened tennis courts, leading to a formally scaled cobblestone entrance courtyard featuring a cluster of majestic raintrees, and finally opens out from under the canopies, like a clear forest glade, into an expansive central open lawn/ swimming pool. This spacious courtyard that visually merges into Goodwood Hill, measures some 100m across opposite blocks, which enhances the privacy of its residents while offering excellent views towards the lush greenery. It is the main community gathering place and breathing room of the development, complete with club house facilities (concierge, reading lounge, private function room and pools) that parallel that of serviced apartments. Smaller landscaped courtyards branching off the sheltered walkways are further extended into the basement carpark as entry points, making pleasant the homecoming experience with natural day light, fresh air and planting.

Goodwood Residence Excellent Locale

Situated in a prominent vicinity right at the heart of everything, Goodwood Residence is well located, 150 meters to Newton MRT train station and the incoming New Newton Circle Line MRT interchange which is projected to open around 2015. There are several bus services located close by. It is located near elite schools such as Anglo-Chinese School, Raffles Girls’ School, and Singapore Chinese Girls’ School.

Numerous restaurants and eating establishments are located within walking distance, including the popular Newton Hawker Centre. Shopping centres such as Chancery Court and Balmoral Plaza, located just a stone’s throw away, address resident’s necessities. Recreational facilities in close proximity to the development include esteemed clubs such as the Premier Club and Tanglin Club. In addition, Thomson Medical Centre is located just a short drive away.

It is also conveniently connected to an extensive road network via Central Expressway (CTE), and Pan Island Expressway (PIE) for fast commuting to all parts of the City. For vehicle owners, it takes about 10 minutes to get to the business hub via Central Expressway, whereas the buzzing Orchard Road shopping belt is a 5-minutes drive down Stevens Road.

WOHA

WOHA Architects Pte Ltd

The architecture of WOHA, founded by Wong Mun Summ and Richard Hassell in 1994, is notable for its constant evolution and innovation. A profound awareness of local context and tradition is intertwined with an ongoing exploration of contemporary architectural form-making and ideas, thus creating a unique fusion of practicality and invention. WOHA conceptualizes all aspects of the architectural process, and environmental principles have always been fundamental to the work of the practice, which is guided by a commitment to responsive place-making and to the creation of an invigorating and sustainable architecture.

WOHA’s built projects – throughout Southeast Asia, China, and Australia – range from apartment towers to luxury resorts, mass-transit stations, condominiums, hotels, educational institutions, and public buildings. WOHA has won an unprecedented amount of architectural awards for a Southeast Asian practice: they received the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 2007 for 1 Moulmein Rise, they collected four awards in the RIBA International Awards of 2011 and 2010 for Alila Villas Uluwatu, School of the Arts, The Met and Bras Basah MRT Station, and they won the 2011 RIBA Lubetkin Prize and the 2010 International Highrise Award for The Met. As an emphatic indication of WOHA’s versatility and global recognition, the practice won two titles in two consecutive years (in four separate categories) at the World Architecture Festival in 2009 and 2010. The practice currently has projects under construction in Singapore, India, China, Indonesia and Thailand. A travelling exhibition devoted exclusively to their work opened at the Deutsches Architekturmuseum, Germany, in December 2011, and two substantial monographs – WOHA: The Architecture of WOHA and WOHA: Selected Projects Vol. 1 – have already been published.

From the architect. Set amidst an enclave of black and white houses just off the prime Orchard/Scotts Road area, and against a verdant 20-hectare backdrop of greenery, the 210-unit Goodwood Residence is conceived on a macro scale as a breathing space – a rarity in high density urbanised Singapore – and an extension of the Goodwood Hill tree conservation area that it shares a boundary of 150m with. Articulated as two 12-storey L-shaped blocks, the 2.5-hectare development dialogues with the hill that it embraces and merges with in a language of openness and continuity made expressive by varying degrees of scale and privacy.
